Mickey Mouse Glock - Last week, Culper Precision made waves in the gun industry with the introduction of the Block 19, their custom 3rd and 4th generation Glock 19 pistols. The splash also received the attention of the national news media and the Lego company. LEGO has sent Culper Precision a cease and desist letter regarding Block 19 customization and Culper Precision has decided to discontinue the service. Culper Precision released a statement on their website in response to the interest and debate surrounding the Block 19 controversy, which you can read in full below.
CULPER PRECISION Discontinues Block 19 We at Culper Precision are grateful for the attention Block 19 is now receiving worldwide. We established Block19 to create an opportunity to discuss the joys of shooting sports and the joy that can only be found in practice and training. While the Second Amendment is fundamentally important to the freedoms we enjoy in the United States of America, as a check on the power that our people give to our elected officials, and as a tool and empowerment for the weak in the face of oppressors, we also recognize and created it to highlight the fun of shooting sports, because we feel like we, our customers, truly love shooting sports and the fun, satisfaction and joy that comes from participating in them. The gun community has long expected that each of us, as responsible gun owners, will take steps to protect our guns from those who are not authorized to do so. While we have never advocated for individual liability laws, we know that many municipalities have laws that punish or hold accountable those who fail to maintain firearm safety and allow minors or other prohibited persons to use firearms without permission. We remind everyone that there is no responsibility to fail to obtain a firearm of any color from an unauthorized person. There are many solutions on the market that balance security and preparation for less than $100. We are in the business of turning firearms that are known for their value into affordable items. A person with a fair price. People have the power to customize their property to see how they want it. We are in the business of helping gun owners make their guns better reflect who they are as individuals and individuals, and our job is to talk to gun owners as they choose these options from a seemingly limitless array of possibilities. It seems that no matter what we create in the gun industry, Anti-Gun seems to take advantage of every *real* innovation (block19 is not an innovation, it's a security joke) shortly after release to talk about why guns are bad. .
